NiMet predicts thundery, cloudy weather for Saturday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted localised thunderstorms over the central states of the country on Saturday morning.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO), on Friday in Abuja predicted prospect of localised thunderstorms over cities such as Abuja, Jos, Makurdi and Lafia axis during the afternoon and evening hours.

It added that the central states would have day and night temperatures of 30 to 35 and 18 to 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The agency predicted that southern states would experience cloudy condition with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Badagry, Eket and Onne in the morning.

It also predicted localised thunderstorms over inland of Abeokuta, Lagos, Ijebu-ode, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Obudu-Ikom during the evening and night period.

NiMet added that the southern states would have day and night temperatures of 31 to 34 and 22 to 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern States will experience isolated thunderstorms over Gusau, Kebbi and Yelwa in the morning and over southern Borno, Potiskum, Yola and Gombe in the afternoon and evening period.

“The region will have day and night températures of 36 to 41 and 24 to 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.

“There are prospects of weather activities due to atmospheric instability; this is expected to aid cloud build up, thunderstorms with rains over some selected cities across the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
