The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has confirmed the arrival of nine vessels at the Lekki, Tin-Can Island, and Apapa ports in Lagos State, carrying petroleum products and bulk fertiliser.
According to the authority’s Shipping Position publication, the vessels are currently awaiting clearance to discharge Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol, aviation fuel, diesel, gasoline, and fertiliser products.
It disclosed that the vessels are part of a larger number of ships expected to berth at the Lagos ports between May 15 and May 22, 2026.
It also revealed that about 35 additional vessels laden with various cargoes are expected to arrive within the review period.
According to the bulletin, the incoming ships are carrying commodities such as crude oil, bulk wheat, base oil, frozen fish, bitumen, bulk sugar, gypsum, bulk salt, fresh fish, buckwheat, containerised goods, and other general cargoes.
The increase in vessel traffic is expected to enhance business activities at the ports and improve the supply of petroleum products and essential commodities across the country.
The development comes amid growing commercial activities at Nigeria’s major seaports as authorities continue efforts to improve cargo handling and port operations.
