NIPSS alumni tasks FG on implementation of reports

The Alumni Association of National Institute (AANI) Saturday urged the Federal Government to implement research reports presented to it in tackling the myriad problems bedevilling the country.
AANI, an offshoot of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos, is a group of intellectuals that promote nationalism and good governance in the country.
The president of AANI and former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, during its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Abuja, identified lack of national unity as the major factor threatening the existence of Nigeria.
Abubakar noted that as an elite group, AANI is supposed to provide leadership to the nation, and hence called on all stakeholders to support in providing lasting solution to the problems.
“Today, as a nation, we are faced with security, economic and political challenges, among others, bedevilling the nation. Of more serious concern is the challenge to national unity. This calls for more concerted efforts by all critical national stakeholders to address these challenges,” he said
On his part, the Acting Director General of NIPSS, retired Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Udaya, said the institute has concluded plans to increase the number of courses offered to 132, adding that it is mulling admitting foreign students into its programmes.
