NIQS partners Lekki Gardens to promote sustainability

The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) says it will synergise with Lekki Gardens Estate Limited, to build a legacy of excellence, efficiency, and sustainability.

This was the outcome of a working visit to the CEO of Lekki Gardens Estate Limited, Dr Richard Nyong, by the Executive Council of NIQS, led by their President, QS Kene Nzekwe.

“We are confident that a collaboration between Lekki Gardens and the NIQS will be a formidable force for positive change in Nigeria’s built environment,” said Nzekwe at the meeting, where they discussed potential areas of collaboration and mutual benefits.

He said their visit was “not just as professional colleagues, but as admirers of the transformative impact Lekki Gardens has made on Nigeria’s real estate landscape.”

“Your vision, tenacity, and innovative approach to mass housing delivery are well-documented and truly commendable. You are building the future of Nigeria, one estate at a time,” he added.

Nzekwe elaborated on “Areas for Strategic Collaboration”, saying, “We believe a formal partnership between NIQS and Lekki Gardens can unlock even greater value and set new benchmarks for the entire industry. 

“We propose collaboration in these key areas: Innovation-Based Collaboration: As NIQS develops new tools and frameworks to improve cost management in the real estate and construction sectors, we would be honored to engage Lekki Gardens as an early partner in testing and refining these instruments. This would allow your organisation to shape industry standards while benefiting from first-mover access to advanced tools for improved project planning and execution.

He then invited Lekki Gardens to partner with NIQS at their 2025 Biennial Conference and General Meeting, taking place in November in Abuja. This year’s conference theme, “Rebuilding Nigeria: Enhancing National Development Through Fiscal Reforms, Infrastructure Planning and the New Governance Imperative.”

The CEO of Lekki Gardens, Nyong, expressed admiration for NIQS’ exemplary organisation and commitment to excellence, highlighting the importance of quantity surveyors in the construction industry. 

Nyong requested NIQS’ support in providing bespoke training for contractors, addressing gaps in the construction industry, and supplying quantity surveyors for management and contractor roles.

He also expressed interest in collaborating with NIQS’ Academy and sponsoring talent development initiatives.
