The newly inaugurated President of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors QS Dr. Aminu M. Bashir FNIQS has stated that he will ensure the actualisation of the Insititute’s data bank and investment portfolio.
QS Bashir made the disclosure in Abuja over the weekend during his investituture as the 28th President of the NIQS.
He noted that the Institute will increase its asset base by investing in landed properties and projects that will generate a stream of income from an economically viable location with appreciable value.
On other projects to be executed during his tenure, he said “The cost databank project initiated by past administrations of the Institute will be reinvigorated, funded and fully supported to actualization. This will aid cost planning, budgeting and monitoring of capital projects by end-users.
“The academy will be supported to provide bespoke training modules for members and other interests groups specialization in various competencies such as digital cost management, data analytics, sustainability & green buildings (carbon Assessment & energy audit). This will further boost the revenue base of the Institute,” he explained
On manpower capacity he said “the NIQS secretariat audit to review the precise needs of the Institute, including recruitment to fill vacant offices, the digitalization of all the Institute’s operations, and the provision of a monthly secretariat update. Additionally, it will include a unified NIQS Member portal and a policy consultation portal on the NIQS website. Provision of alternative solar energy for reduction in running costs of the Secretariat,”
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government has congratulated QS Dr Aminu M. Bashir on his emergence and investiture as the 28th President of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS).
Dr Bashir, who becomes the first Kano indigene to lead the prestigious national professional body, was described by the state government as a symbol of pride and inspiration to the people of Kano State.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Kano government said Dr Bashir’s elevation reflects his professionalism, dedication, and significant contributions to the growth of the quantity surveying profession in Nigeria.
The state government noted that Dr Bashir brings decades of experience to the leadership of the NIQS, adding that he has earned a reputation for integrity, excellence, mentorship and consistent community service.
It expressed confidence that his tenure will usher in innovation, purposeful leadership and renewed vigour that will propel the institute to greater heights.
While urging him to uphold the values of professionalism and patriotism, the state government reiterated its commitment to supporting indigenes of Kano State in attaining the highest levels of professional accomplishment.
