Japanese automaker Nissan has introduced the updated 2026 version of its popular family SUV, the Nissan X-Trail, marking a significant refresh for one of the brand’s most recognised electrified vehicles.

Unveiled in London, the latest model builds on the X-Trail’s 25-year legacy of combining rugged capability with practicality for families and adventure-seeking drivers. The 2026 update brings a more assertive exterior design, enhanced interior comfort and a suite of advanced connected technologies aimed at improving everyday driving.

According to the company, the updated X-Trail strengthens its position within Nissan’s electrified vehicle lineup while maintaining the qualities that have made it popular among SUV buyers worldwide.

Region Vice President for Product, Services and Marketing Strategy at Nissan AMIEO, Cliodhna Lyons, said customers have long appreciated the model’s versatility and reliability.

“Over 25 years of X-Trail, our customers have come to love its sense of adventure, practicality and advanced all-wheel-drive powertrains,” Lyons said.

“The new X-Trail delivers even more of these qualities, bringing stronger design character, smarter technology and the confidence of Nissan’s unique e-POWER technology,” he added.

The 2026 model features a redesigned exterior aimed at reinforcing the SUV’s rugged identity. At the front, the vehicle receives a wider and cleaner V-Motion grille that enhances its visual presence while maintaining Nissan’s signature design language.

The refreshed model also features diamond-cut alloy wheels, including 20-inch wheels available as standard on the Tekna grade, alongside glossy black lower bumpers, wheel-arch surrounds, side sills and mirrors that give the SUV a more robust appearance.

Additional styling upgrades include reworked front side vents, reshaped lower bumpers and improved body-colour coverage at the rear. The vehicle also gets new full-LED taillights that sharpen its lighting signature.

Two new exterior colour options—Sukomo Blue and Coastal Dune—have also been introduced to expand customer choice.

Inside the cabin, the updated X-Trail offers improved comfort and a more refined interior environment while retaining its durable and practical design. The interior now features premium materials such as chestnut brown quilted leather upholstery, a wood-effect centre console trim and a high-quality synthetic leather option.

Comfort features across the range include heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, three-zone climate control and a 12.3-inch infotainment display. A flexible sliding second row with a 40/20/40 configuration allows passengers to adjust seating space or cargo capacity depending on their needs.

Customers can also opt for a BOSE 10-speaker premium sound system and a heated windscreen, which come standard on the Tekna grade.

The SUV also receives updated connectivity features through the NissanConnect infotainment system, which now integrates Google built-in services. This allows drivers to access Google Assistant voice commands, download applications from the Play Store and receive over-the-air system updates.

Drivers can control navigation, make phone calls or adjust cabin features such as ventilation and heated seats using voice commands, helping them keep their attention on the road.

The updated model also introduces an advanced 3D Around View Monitor system with eight selectable camera angles that provide a high-definition bird’s-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings. This feature improves visibility during low-speed manoeuvres and helps drivers avoid obstacles.

Powering the 2026 X-Trail is Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid technology, which delivers electric motor drive without the need for external charging. The system provides smooth acceleration and instant torque, while an optional e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system enhances grip and stability across different driving conditions.
