The acting director general of NITDA, Dr Ashiru Daura, disclosed this at send-forth ceremony organised for the beneficiaries in Abuja.
Dr Daura said the agency sponsored the students for Masters and PH.D degree programmes  in order to come and  find solution to Nigeria’s problem through research.
According to him, the awardees deserve the scholarship because they worked hard for it because it was based purely on merit.
The NITDA boss, who disclosed that the worth of the scholarship is N300 million, said the selection was done through a competitive screening and examination which involved more than 4000 applicants who applied for the scholarship.
 He said: “I’m sure that some of you never knew where NITDA office is, neither do any of you know any of us. You got the scholarship not because you know any body or because you gave anybody anything and that is what we have been doing which has been our culture here at NITDA and for the last three years this, has been our culture.”
 While advising the scholars to be of good behaviour, he said they should good ambassadors of Nigeria.
 “Now as you leave the shores of this country to go and pursue your studies, remember that you are ambassadors of this country, your conduct is very important, you will be portraying Nigeria and showing people the image of this country, so you have to be conscious of what you do in this country both in your studies and in your conduct.
 “You should always remember that in whatever you do, remember the problems of this country and think of solutions when you go outside to pursue your studies. Make sure that the focus and researches of your studies should reflect what you leave behind. The purpose of research is to get solutions to problems,  so I urge you to use your researches to find solutions to the problems confronting”, he said.
