NITDA’s acting Director Generator, Dr Ashiru Sanni Daura, who disclosed this at a press briefing on the forthcoming e-Nigeria conference, also said the agency is working to develop the requisite framework for global competitiveness of indigenous IT products and services.
According to him, the country is losing jobs and money to foreign based firms who are being patronized by our financial institutions.
He said some of the software being used by the banks could be developed locally, adding that this is killing the economy.
He said:” The main goal of NITDA is to stimulate the environment for development of IT loval content and this we have initiated through the eNigeria platform which is focused on making the country a hub for IT products.
“Currently, we are losing jobs and huge amount of money to foreign companies who are making money that our indigenous companies ought to be making. We are saying this should stop; because we want to create jobs and we want our companies to survive.
 The campaign, he said, is aimed at developing strategies for leveraging on technology transfer to Nigerians.
 “A major outcome of the last e-Nigeria conference was the decision that subsequent editions should continue to concentrate on IT local content development until about 50% is achieved in order to make Nigeria a major hub for IT products and services”, he added.
The NITDA acting DG said Vice President Namadi Sambo is expected to declare this year conference opened.
