National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has stressed the need to improve the quality of software applications consumed in the country. The Director General of the Agency, Mr Peter Jack at the inauguration of the Software Development and Testing Laboratory Centre in Lagos said NITDA is concerned with discharging of its primary responsibility of implementing the Information Technology (IT) policy that will give Nigeria competitive advantage in the IT world.
He said the software testing lab is established to improve the overall quality of software applications built and consumed in the country.
Jack said, “It will provide an eco-system where business entities can subject their software applications to various forms of testing prior consumption.”
The DG also noted that the testing lab would create awareness for software testing as a viable IT profession through training and certification and provide local business entities.
He said it would also create an eco-system with easy, affordable access to state of the art software testing tools combined with expert hand-holding by professionals in the concerned areas.
