The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has said it will establish a digital job centre in Akwa-Ibom to encourage and boost the Information Communication Technology (ICT) ecosystem in the state.
Speaking in Uyo during the 9th edition of the StartUp Friday (SUF) and the first in the South-south zone, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NITDA, Dr Isa Pantami said the digital job centre will be sited at Government Secondary School, Afaha Eket in Eket local government area.
He said the programme was brought to the state because of the great ICT opportunities seen in the region and government’s desire to build technology entrepreneurs as a means of mitigating the difficulties experienced by youths in securing jobs.
He said if Nigeria’s ICT ecosystem was developed, it will help the nation diversify its economy from oil, adding that the NITDA act empowers it to develop and regulate technology application and innovation in the country.
