Receiving the award, the NITP President, Tpl. Steve I. Onu, commended Toplead Media for the award and said NITP, UN-Habitat and Town Planners Registration Council (TOPREC) are partnering to ensure that issues of urban planning are heard in and out of Nigeria.
He said because of the incessant security crisis in Nigeria the theme for the upcoming conference by NITP is “Land Use Planning and National Security”.
Editorial Board Member, Ben Charles Davis, in a speech at the presentation of the award to the President, said the motive of the annual award is to identify people of proven integrity and accomplishments who are role models and serve as beacon of hope to upcoming generations.
He said the annual event has become a platform to brain-storm on issues affecting Africa and recommend necessary solutions to governments and heads of states of African nations.
Davis said awardees for this year’s edition were strictly selected out of 1,000 nominees received by the award selection committee from members of the public, government agencies and the private sector.
