The National Judicial Council (NJC) has begun an electronic system of adjudication in the Supreme Court as part of efforts to accelerate justice delivery.
The retrofitted courtroom of the Supreme Court was commissioned on Monday by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
While handing over the court to the CJN, the chairman of the Judiciary Information Technology, Justice Kashim Zannah, said it was one of the nine recently completed technologically enhanced courtrooms across the country.
He said the retrofitted courtrooms were fitted with the latest cutting-edge technology to enhance justice administration, towards providing Nigerians with the fast, transparent and accessible justice system they deserve.

Justice Zannah, who is the Chief Judge of Borno State, explained that the retrofitted courtroom was an initiative of the National Judicial Council/JITPCO towards standardization of courtroom infrastructure nationwide; by integrating ICT into court processes in Nigeria.
He said the whole idea was to have technology leveraged courts (TLCs) across the federation to eliminate papers to electronic devices with cases filed under the case management system and lawyers can reach the court real-time from anywhere.
Also speaking, the secretary of the NJC, Gambo Saleh, said the system had been installed in 11 federal courts; four federal high courts in Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt; one high court of the FCT, two Court of Appeal divisions, and one court of the National Industrial Court (NIC).
