In his opening remarks at the signing of the agreement yesterday in Abuja, Chairman of the Judicial Information Technology Policy Committee, Justice Kashim Zannah, noted that the NJC is partnering with the best American court information technology organisation to install state of the art electronic Case Management System (CMS) for the Nigerian judiciary.
Zannah, who is also the Chief Justice of Borno State, explained that the system will incorporate a customized design of Nigerian laws and rules.
Speaking, the Vice President of Centre for State Courts Jeff Applerson, who commended the NJC and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Aloma Mukhtar for the vision, pledged to build a CMS that will bring justice administration in Nigeria to best international standards.
“I am very proud to work  in a partnership to establish a case management system for Nigeria that will facilitate efficiency, transparency and accountability for the courts and people of Nigeria. We are dedicated to transferring the knowledge of the National Centre for State Courts USA to the courts of Nigeria so that we can facilitate the operation of international standards for court management in Nigeria,”he said.
The secretary of the NJC, Danladi Halilu, reiterated the commitment of the CJN to the realisation of the project for the Nigerian judiciary before the end of her tenure.
The first part of the court automation project is expected to come into operation by November.
