The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said its 40th anniversary will focus on its 40 years of struggle and perseverance as a working class organisation and to articulate an agenda for congress in the next 10 years.

Chairman of the Organising Committee of NLC @ 40, Comrade Peters Adeyemi, stated this at a press briefing held at the Labour House, Abuja.

Adeyemi said the 40th anniversary celebration would also be used to reflect on the challenges facing the NLC and the wider labour movement and identify ways these challenges could be addressed, as well as highlight NLC’s history and its accomplishments.

“The programme of commemorating this anniversary is being marked at two levels: state and national. Throughout the 36 states of the federation and the FCT from Thursday, February 22, 2018, the celebration has started, with public lectures on Friday in Mosques. On Sunday, our Christian faithful will congregate in churches across the country and pray for the working people of this nation,” he said.
