The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has constituted a 10- member committee over the current socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
The committee is chaired by Dr. Dipo Fashina with Comrade Issa Aremu as co-chairman and Dr. Hauwa Mustapha as Secretary.
Members of the committee are Prof. Toye Olorode, Dr. Muhammed Aminu Aliyu, Dr. Muttaka Usman, Dr. Isacc Nwaogwugwu, Dr, Yemisi Bangbose, Mr. Sonny Atumah and Dr. Peter Ozo- Eson.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held at Labour House, Abuja NLC President Ayuba Wabba said the Congress would engage the current socio-economic issues from intellectual perspective, which he said, are readily available in and around the working class to engage the government.
“Also, we would use our normal processes on the streets to canvass for policy change where they prove necessary placed side by side with dialogue and round table discussions.”
He urged the committee to justify the confidence reposed in them, saying “comrades, we know that the assignment is enormous but looking at your calibre,I am sure you will make all the working class proud. I congratulate you all and once you stand inaugurated the assignment takes immediate effect.”
