NLC holds election Thursday

An earlier election conducted February 12, was shifted after aggrieved voters destroyed ballot boxes and scattered ballot papers midway into voting, claiming there was an attempt to rig the elections in favour of one of the presidential candidates.
Those contesting the position of president are Ayuba Wabba of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) and Joe Ajaero of Nigeria Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), while comrades Peters Adeyemi, Najeem Yasin, Kiri Mohammed, Igwe Achese and Issa Aremu are contesting for the deputy presidents’ positions. The NLC has three deputy positions.
Adelegan Solomon, Asuguni Amechi, Lawal Dutsinma, Oyelekan Lateef and Nted Anthony are contesting for the four vice presidents’ positions. Other positions up for grabs include that of treasurer, trustee, financial secretary, auditors and ex-officio.
