The NLC President said this during a reception organised by the congress in honour of the outgoing labour attache and held at the headquarters of the NLC in Abuja at the weekend, a statement by the Assistant Secretary (Information and Public Relation), Denja Yaqub, has said. The reception was attended by leaders of unions affiliated to the NLC as well as the Country Programme Director of the American Centre for International Labour Solidarity, popularly known as The Solidarity Center, Mr. Chris Johnson, Yaqub added.
He said, “Comrade Omar thanked the labour attache for facilitating a bilateral relationship with the American Federation of Labour and also for his support during the struggles for the current National Minimum Wage. He recalled that the outgoing labour attache was with congress during sessions with the National Assembly and this brought out international dimensions to the struggle.”
“Mr. Beyer successfully linked us up with the American society and our participation at the African Leaders Summit, which will hold this month, is not without his strong input”, Comrade Omar said.
