The Nigeria Labour Congress in Zamfara state has announced the conditional suspension of the 12-day strike action in the state.
The NLC embarked on a strike a couple of weeks ago following what they described as state government’s nonchalant attitude towards resolving some critical labour issues.
The issues of contention include non-implementation on new minimum wage, non-payment of promotion arrears, and the issue of gratuity and pension benefits.
However, the state chairman of the NLC, Comrade Bashir Mafara said the suspension of the strike action followed the agreement reached between organised labour and the government of Zamfara state on Sunday.
The agreement reached during the meeting include the maintaining of the monthly standing payment order of N100 million for gratuity and the payment of outstanding promotion which amounts to N61 million in the month of September 2017 among other issues.
