The Nigeria Labour Congress in Zamfara state has announced the conditional suspension of  its 12-day strike in the state.

The NLC had called a strike a couple of weeks ago following what they described as state’s government nonchalant attitude towards resolving some critical labour issues.

The issues of contention include but not limited to non implementation on new minimum wage, non payment of promotion arrears, and the issue of gratuity and pension benefits.

How ever, the state chairman of the NLC Bashir Mafara said the suspension of the strike action followed the agreement reached between organised labour and the government of Zamfara state on Sunday.

He said an 11-man committee was constituted by the Acting governor Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala Muhammad to look in to the issues raised by organised labour.

The agreement reached during the meeting include the maintaining of the monthly standing payment order of N100 million for gratuity and the payment of outstanding promotion which amount to N61 million in the month of September 2017 among other issues.
