The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have lamented the harsh living condition in the country which has made workers to lose faith and hope in the Nigerian project.

 Addressing a pre-May day press conference in Abuja weekend, Chairman of May Day committee and Deputy President of the NLC, Comrade Najeem Yasin, noted that  the living condition of Nigerian workers and citizens have continued to deteriorate in the past few years without corresponding action to better their lots.

Yasin is the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). He said the absence of decent wages and dignified working conditions has worsened the situation.

He added that the minimum wage promised by the government is yet to materialize.

Also speaking, the co-Chairman of the May Day committee, Amodu Olayinka, said measures have been put in place to ensure that the rowdy atmosphere that characterized the 2017 May Day celebration does not repeat itself.
