The Nigeria Labour Congress and the United Labour Congress, on Thursday, announced that the strain within the ranks of organised labour in Nigeria had been resolved.
Addressing journalists at the Labour House in Abuja on Thursday, Wabba said the leadership and structures of the United Labour Congress had been reintegrated into the NLC.
On his part, Ajaero, who is now the Deputy Vice President of the NLC, said the congress was now committed to working for the betterment of the union and Nigerian workers.
It would be recalled that after the conduct of the NLC leadership election in 2015, misunderstanding arose between some affiliates of the congress.
Following the dispute of 2015 delegates’conference, which produced Ayuba Wabba of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria as president, Joe Ajaero of the National Union of Electricity Employees and over 20 affiliates, including the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, had alleged fraud and broken away to form a faction of the NLC.
On December 18, 2016, the Ajaero-led faction announced the birth of the United Labour Congress of Nigeria with over 25 affiliates, including some aggrieved affiliates of the Trade Union Congress.
