Petroleum regulator, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMPDRA has assured that the long queues in the fuel stations across the country will soon disappear as depots are ladened with the product while expecting the arrival of more vessels.
The Authority Chief Executive of NMPDRA, Engr. Farouk Ahmed stated this on Wednesday during an unscheduled inspection tour of some depots at Apapa in Lagos.
Farouk who briefed journalists said: “I’m very comfortable the way I see the trucks load out from all the depots today, except one that started a bit late. But with the volume that we have gone through in terms of trucking out and even distribution across the nation, I believe this issue of tightness in the market will be addressed very soon.”

The Managing Director, NIPCO Plc, Suresh Kumar said the depot has 28 million litres of the product while explaining that the scarcity is reducing compared to last week’s experience.
The Managing Director, 11 Plc, Adetunji Banji said people engaged in panic buying because of the fear that the scarcity may later bite harder.
“The best option is to load more trucks for people to buy and be satisfied. That’s when the scarcity will go down”, he stated.
