The Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, has announced the appointment of Mr. Abdullahi Nedanda Bardi as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council.

Mr. Bardi was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.

Mr. Bardi is a computer science graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University (1983) who initially taught mathematics and computer science before working in the private sector as a Systems Analyst and Systems Manager in the Steel and Cement production sector.

Abdullahi Bardi formed a Private Engineering and IT consultancy firm in 1990 and successfully served as IT Consultant to many corporate organisations in Nigeria and some West African Countries.

Bardi joined politics and became a card-carrying member of APC at its formation in 2014. He also served as a chairman and/or member of several governing councils of tertiary institutions.

The Governing Council of the NMU plays a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction and overall governance of the university. Mr. Bardi’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the university’s position as a leading maritime institution in Nigeria.
