Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie says the global football stage must brace itself for what is emerging from Africa, declaring that the continent’s goalkeepers are on the brink of challenging the world’s best.

Her bold message came as she claimed the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third consecutive time on Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco.

Nnadozie, who has delivered a remarkable year for both club and country, described the honour as a powerful affirmation of her commitment to excellence.

She surpassed Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini to retain her crown, further solidifying her place as Africa’s leading shot-stopper.

Reflecting on the achievement, the 23-year-old said, “This really means a lot to me. Winning it three times in a row is not easy. It’s a symbol of dedication, consistency, and hard work.”

Her performance at the Women’s AFCON—keeping four clean sheets in six games as Nigeria secured its 10th WAFCON title—has been central to her rise.

Her club career has also flourished, moving from Paris FC to Brighton, where she continues to earn global admiration.

The only Nigerian winner at the 2025 CAF Awards, used her acceptance speech to spotlight Africa’s growing influence in women’s football. “You guys are the best. I’m not sure the world is ready for what’s coming out from Africa, and I believe in the nearest future all the African goalkeepers will be there in the world competing against the best goalkeepers. Thank you so much and I love you,” she said.

Nnadozie also delivered an inspiring message to young female footballers, urging them to keep faith in their dreams.

“My advice to young girls is that no time is too late… keep working hard, keep doing the right thing. Always learn from your seniors and listen to your coaches. Stay humble, pray hard, and everything will be fine.”

Nnadozie’s recent achievement makes her the first African female goalkeeper win the prestigious award three times in a row. She was also ranked fourth at the 2025 Yashin Trophy.
