The giant trophy which was donated by the government of Bauchi State will be contested for by returnees, Nasarawa United, Bayelsa United, El-Kanemi Warriors and debutants, Nembe City FC.
In a pre-tournament briefing, the Chairman of the National League board, Chief Emeka Inyama said the winner of the competition will take home N300,000.00.
Last season’s winners, Wikki Tourists pocketed N500,000.00 but Inyama said this year’s champion would get less because the NNL is operating a tight budget.
He said efforts to get sponsors for the competition proved abortive as few organizations which gave assurances pulled out at the last minute.
Inyama however, assured that the NNL will do its best to make the competition a huge success saying there would be no dull moment.
Meanwhile, the coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi is expected to grace the competition with the aim of identifying players who could be invited to the senior national team.
Nembe City will take on El-Kanemi in the opening game of the day at 2pm while Nasarawa United will play Bayelsa United in the second match at 4pm.
