The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced the successful restoration of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS) to full operations following an explosion that disrupted activities earlier in December.

In a statement issued on Monday, NNPC Ltd said the pipeline, located in Warri, Delta State, was fully recommissioned after comprehensive repair and safety procedures were completed.

The statement was signed by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd.

It would be recalled that the incident occurred on December 10, 2025, prompting an immediate emergency response from the company.

According to NNPC Ltd, multidisciplinary teams were swiftly deployed to contain the situation, repair the damaged section of the pipeline, and carry out pressure testing to ensure the system met safety and operational standards before resumption of service.

The company said the restoration was achieved in record time due to the collaboration and support of host communities, regulatory authorities, security agencies, and industry partners.

“This successful recommissioning underscores our resilience and unwavering commitment to national energy security,” NNPC Ltd noted, adding that safety and environmental protection remained central to the recovery process.

NNPC Ltd also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the environment, safeguarding host communities, and maintaining the integrity and reliability of its critical energy infrastructure.

The Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System is a major gas transportation artery supplying gas to power plants and industrial users across the country, making its restoration critical to sustaining electricity generation and industrial activities nationwide.
