The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has called on the Presidency and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to publicly clear its National Leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of allegations linking him to terrorism.

In a statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, the party urged the President and the NSA to promptly issue an official statement exonerating Kwankwaso from what it described as unsubstantiated accusations.

The NNPP described Kwankwaso as a patriotic Nigerian whose record in education and human capital development speaks for itself.

“The party reaffirms that its National Leader is a true patriotic Nigerian, evident in his investments in education and human capital development,” the statement said.

The party cautioned against politicising national security issues, stressing that matters of security should not be used as tools for political contests.

It also appealed to Nigerians to condemn what it termed attempts to tarnish the image of its leader through unverified claims.

The NNPP further referenced reports suggesting that foreign interests, including the United States, may be acting on unverified allegations, urging restraint and due diligence in handling such sensitive matters.

The party maintained that Kwankwaso’s political decisions, including his refusal to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)  was due to what it called principled differences in manifestos, should not be twisted into security allegations.

It called on the Presidency and the Office of the NSA to immediately clarify the situation to prevent what it described as national embarrassment and negative publicity for the country.
