The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has screened four aspirants vying for the governorship ticket to contest the Edo off-circle election in 2024.
The chairman of the screening committee, Abdulrahman Abubakar, while addressing journalists during the screening in Abuja, yesterday, said academic records, National Youth Service eligibility, membership and voter cards, passport photographs, and other relevant information were scrutinised during the screening.
He said, “We will be very interested in whoever becomes our candidate. Our interest is that we should produce, by the grace of God, the next governor of Edo State.”

The four aspirants, Pastor Azemhe Azena, Balogun Engeleyeme, Rev. Sebastian Iyere, and Peter Okoeguale, said in separate interviews that they were qualified academically and by experience to fly the party’s flag in Edo and win.
