‘No cases of cattle rustling in Kebbi’

Alhaji Danjuma Maishanu, a cattle dealer in Zuru said: “We buy the cattle from Fulani on Saturdays and Fridays at Mahuta market in Fakai Local Government Area and transport them in trailers to Lagos and other southern parts of the country.
The counselor of Lafagu/Ganten Tudu in Kaoje Development Area said despite their proximity to international borders with Benin and Niger republics, there were no cases of cattle rustling or influx of cattle from the neighbouring countries.
“We have more than enough cattle and we have no experience of the activities of cattle rustling in this area. The prices of our cattle, as far as we know, are still stable,” he said.
Chairman, Ambursa Development Area, Mohammed Nayaya, said there was no reported case of cattle rustling in the area, adding: “From what I know, all cattle brought to Ambursa cattle market are from Fulanis.”  
The Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Isah Mera, when contacted, said that the state has no record of cattle rustling activities, adding that the cattle in the market were sourced internally.
