‘No enmity between trade union, management’

President-General of the union, Comrade Adetunji Adesunkanmi, who disclosed this recently at the inauguration of Lagos Water Corporation and election of branch executives, said it is a misconception that management of companies believe that trade union is always at the opposing end.
“Trade union believes in the principle of property rights from which management derives her power. In other words, management has the right to manage, right to deploy resources including employees as it deems fits, right to hire and fire.
“We as trade unionists believe that employees have certain rights that are protected in law and by nature. Such rights include but not limited to principle of fair hearing, equity, social and economic justice, and decent work freedom from intimidation and harassment,’’ he said.
He reassured management of companies of his union’s social partnership on the strength that the interests of his members are protected.
He also disclosed that his union will employ maturity, discipline, dialogue and decent attitudes to achieve the best for the generality of its members.
