Some pressure groups have said the assertion that University of Ilorin is a terrorist institution allegedly by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan chapter, is false.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Osogbo, Osun State, the Good Governance and Leadership Assessment Initiative (GGLAI), World Institute for Peace (WIP) and National Congress of Nigerian Students (NACONS) said the claim credited to ASUU-UI was irresponsible and condemnable.
A statement signed by the South-West Coordinator of WIP, Abdulganiy Sahid Olaide Ezra, the Director-General of GOGLAI, Mr Abdulsalam Abdulfatah Liberty and the Acting National President of NACONS, Mr Yusuf Ariyo Musa, said Unilorin was a reputable institution.
“The good reputation of Unilorin compelled us to quickly react to what we considered as unwarranted, unguided and irritating remark of the ASUU, University of Ibadan Chapter,” they said.
