No plan to scrap CPN – Registrar

According to the Council Registrar, Mr Sikiru Sheu, in a statement made available to Daily Trust in Lagos, it becomes imperative for CPN to react to wrong information being spread in the media against the body.
CPN was reacting to a report in one of the national dailies that government was about to scrap it as part of the ongoing implementation of the Oronsaye Report, which recommends streamlining of government’s ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
Sheu said, “It is not true that government is considering or ever considered the scrapping of CPN.”
He explained that CPN is an agency under the Federal Ministry of Education duly established Act No. 49 of 1993 with a very clear and unambiguous mandate to regulate, control and supervise the Information Technology profession in the country.
Sheu said CPN has been faithful to its mandate and so, government is not considering scrapping it.
