A former Deputy Inspector General of  Police (DIG), Babatunde Johnson Kokumo, has said that no region in Nigeria is immune to the insecurity challenges confronting the nation. 

Kokumo spoke in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the World Radio Day celebration organised by the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN).

Mr Kokumo underscored the severity of the security issue, citing various forms of criminal activities plaguing the nation, including kidnapping, banditry, murder, piracy, cultism and bombing.

He noted that no community in Nigeria had remained untouched by the various criminalities happening, urging citizens to be vigilant and prepared to combat crime.

He said, “I appeal to those engaged in radio presentation to utilise this medium in combating crime and criminal activities in Nigeria.

“There is scarcely any section in Nigeria today that is not grappling with insecurity, including issues such as kidnapping, banditry, murder, piracy, cultism, bombing, pipeline vandalism, IPOB, unrest in the Middle Belts and Boko Haram in the North East.

“No community in Nigeria is exempted from these criminal activities. It is now our collective responsibility as members of the Nigerian community and as citizens to be prepared to fight against crime and criminality.”
