When Pillars won the title last season, Kofa-Matar had left his childhood club to team up with Heartland FC where he also won the Federation Cup trophy.
Speaking to Weekly Trust at the reception held for Pillars at the Kano State government House on Wednesday, the player said even as he did not get one of the cars and the cash that was splashed on his team mates, he was happy because the gesture would go a long way in motivating the players.
He said although he did not get the cars, he also received N1m from the Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha for winning the Federation Cup with Heartland FC.
Kofar-matar, a former junior international however said he would help his present club, Kano Pillars to retain the league title so that when next the Governor is rewarding the team, he would be among the beneficiaries.
He said expressed confidence that even as Pillars have dropped from the top of the league table, they would soon reclaim their position.
“Although I am not one of the beneficiaries, I am very happy and I want to thank our Governor for motivating us. As you are aware, I left last season to play for Heartland so I was not part of the Pillars team that won the league.
“It may also interest you to know that I receive N1m from the Imo State Governor for winning the Federation Cup with Heartland.
“What I hope to do is to help Pillars retain the league title so that by this time next year, I would also be a proud owner of a new car and some money”, he said.
