Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior said he will have to continue to assess Cole Palmer’s fitness “game-by-game” after an injury disrupted season for the England international.
A persistent groin injury has hampered Palmer’s impact for months.
The 23-year-old was used only as a second half substitute as Chelsea bowed out of the League Cup with a semi final defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday.
Palmer had played the full 90 minutes just three days previously as Chelsea came from 2-0 down to beat West Ham 3-2.
