No to sale of national assets

All those canvassing for the sale of the national assets have forgotten that Nigeria has sold assets in the past under the guise of privatization but Nigerians did not benefit from the sale either by way of positive uses of the proceeds or good management of the assets by the new owners. The upshot has always been that such practices have been opportunity for the privileged few to buy the assets at giveaway prices thereby widening the inequality the more. No need to sell national assets. Our problem is paucity of forex but with patient disciplined management practices and little sacrifice of foregoing part of today’s comfort for the good of tomorrow, the economy will pick up under the conscious effort to make desires possible and then actual.
