The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has said plans are underway to disburse debit cards to the beneficiaries in the single register of the poor and vulnerable households across the 18 local government areas in Ondo.

The agency’s state director, James Adekunle, stated this during a stakeholder meeting in Akure, commending the state government on its efforts to improve the living standard of the resident through the social investment programme.

A statement yesterday indicated that 12,867 and 3,388 outstanding beneficiaries benefitted from the disbursement of debit cards to Renewed Hope Beneficiaries under the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme of NSIP in 2024.

“The programme which was renewed by the President Tinubu’s administration under the National Social Safety NET Coordinating Office (NASSCO), Abuja in collaboration with the Ondo State Public and Intergovernmental Relations office has captured about 12,867 beneficiaries and 3,388 outstanding beneficiaries in 2024 exercise to receive disbursement of Debit cards in the state,” he said.

Adekunle emphasized that the state government has worked hard towards achieving the set goals, charging the coordinating units not to relent in ensuring that the downtrodden further feels the impact of the programme.

The director posited that the programme is all about reaching out to the poor and vulnerable in the society, affirming that the programme has been very effective in the last two years.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, Ambassador Orioye Gbayisemore expressed hope that the empowerment would in no small impact the welfare and wellbeing of the beneficiaries.
