NOKT Records has said it is not chasing polished celebrities but rather targeting raw, undiscovered talent among young Nigerians. The record label, which hosted the debut edition of its Voice of Hope Benevolent Talent Show in Abuja, said the initiative was born out of charity and a desire to restore hope to the less privileged.

The director, Jennifer Ojadua Ejeh, said the show was inspired by her son’s passion for music and her desire to give young Nigerians a platform to shine.

“We discovered too many people with talent that nobody cares about. So we decided to do something different, free registration, cash prizes, no gate fee,” she said.

She explained that the programme, which recorded over a million online views, was fully funded by her family with support from Viju and Cway.

“We paid winners same day. This is not for showbiz; it’s our own way of helping. Our name carries ‘hope,’ and we want to keep pushing that,” she added.

The CEO, Onoriode Kwaku Boasiako (Neezo), said the team plans to make the show an annual event and expand it to reach more grassroots creatives across Nigeria.

“We’re not just doing this for music. We want to touch all kinds of talents, from dancers to cooks,” he said.

The organisers emphasised that most Nigerian youths are not lacking in talent, but in access. They noted plans to launch a digital platform to connect local talents with global opportunities and to take the next edition of the show to new locations beyond Abuja.
