Justice James Tsoho said the election that ushered the 42-year-old into office was conducted against a standing court order, in a suit filed by an actor identified as St. Maradona Mikevine.
Mikevine served as the national treasurer in the factional exco led by Emeka Ike and had filed the suit to contest Ibinabo’s election as AGN president.
Court papers indicate that Mikevine approached the court praying for the nullification of the election, saying it was conducted in the face of a subsisting court order restraining the conduct of the AGN election.
A report on http://dailypost.ng stated that Ibinabo Fiberisima-Egbuka says she remains the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria regardless of the Lagos High court ruling on March 16th that invalidated her October 2014 reappointment.
According to the report: “She explained that she will be appealing the judgement and until her appeal is granted, she will continue as the President of the Guild.
She said, “People have been calling me on the phone to say that Emeka Ike is the new president of the AGN. But this is not true. The court did not say that he is now president. It said there was a status quo that forbade us from holding elections. We are appealing that, because we cannot wait four whole years for the court’s judgement on that issue. I remain president of the guild until my appeal is heard”.
