According to reports, there was a candle light procession in honour of the veteran Nollywood actor which took place at Ojez at the National Stadium complex, Surulere.
In attendance were Ini Edo, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Segun Arinze, Olu Jacobs and his wife, Joke Silver, Julius Agwu, Oke Bakassi, Fidelis Duke, Ernest Obi, Ifeanyi Dike, among others.
Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, pop singer and second son of the deceased, Dr. Sid, described his father as a perfectionist and enigma of sort.
There was a service of songs on Thursday at the Catholic Church at Murtala Mohammed International Airport after which his body was flown to Warri for a second and final phase of the funeral prayers.
Yesterday, the body was taken to Abraka for another commendation mass/lying in state at the polo turf in Abraka.
Paying tribute to late Esiri, AGN President, Ibinabo Fiberesima, who was represented at the occasion by Ini Edo said “Late Esiri lived a fulfilled life,” adding that Esiri made AGN what it is today and he wanted a positive change for the industry which of course was achieved before his death.
She thanked Nollywood practitioners, who came out to honour her late father, saying he was “more than an icon, more than a friend.”
She said though her father was no more, he remains a legend whose legacy would not be forgotten in a hurry.
