The awards which are in three categories, A, B and C, comprise prizes for the Young Journalist of the Year, Student Journalist of the Year and Mass Communication Department Training Journal of the Year respectively.

According to the statement, interested journalists for category A should not have more than three years experience in the field and should not be more than thirty by this December and must have shown dedication to their job and distinguished themselves. They are to forward three of their written or broadcast stories between January and December along with their CVs and nomination letters from their editors.

In Category B, entrants must be undergraduates with three published or broadcast works on campus or other medium that focuses on campus issues. The applications should be accompanied by a CV and letter from the relevant authorities while Category C submissions of training newspapers or journals will be assessed on the bases of content, the statement said.

Submission should be made to the Programme Co’ordinator at the Media Career Services office, International Press Centre, Ogba Lagos or through email to [email protected] not later than January 15, 2010.

Winners will be awarded with media enhancing prizes at a yet to be announced date sometime next year.
