The North-East zonal elimination being hosted by Gombe State will feature five events namely, football, basketball, volleyball, handball and hockey.

The Executive Chairman of Gombe State Sports Commission, Malam Farouk Yarma said the zonal co-ordinator of the National Sports Commission, Umar Talba Shua has expressed satisfaction with the arrangement on ground for the games.

He said the pre-games meeting with the co-ordinator which held yesterday in Gombe provided the opportunity for the sports commission to prove in words and deeds that it is indeed ready to host the mini-sports festival.

Yarma therefore expressed confidence that barring unforeseen circumstances Gombe State would stage the best zonal eliminations.

He said committees on medical, publicity, security, accommodation and technical have been constituted and are working round the clock to ensure a hitch free event.

“Everything is set for the games. We have been working round the clock and I think barring unforeseen circumstances we are going to stage the best zonal eliminations. I have been in constant touch with the committees.

“The zonal co-ordinator of the NSC, Umar Talba Shua is pleased with the arrangements on ground. He is particularly happy with the accommodation and security arrangements. Shua has since given us a pass mark”.

Yarma also said apart from hosting a successful event, the state athletes have been given the necessary training and motivation to win tickets to Lagos.

“We are not only going to host but we shall host and win fairly. Our athletes are well motivated”.
