A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has said the Tinubu administration in collaboration with Rolling Energy Limited is expanding Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure in Northern Nigeria.
Kwankwaso stated this while responding to the Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) allegthat the north is being sidelined olin the project.
BACCIMA had claimed that the laudable programme is only concentrated in Southern Nigeria, saying the North stands to lose out in several ways.
In his response, Kwankwaso said the allegation of the north being sidelined on the Federal Government’s CNG project is unsubstantiated and ill-intentioned.

He said, “I am surprised that the Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, as a respected chamber, could not substantiate this claim.
“Rolling Energy Limited has existing and functional CNG stations in about five northern states. I visited all the centres and discussed with the managers and even the contractors.
“The company has existing and functional CNG centers in Kwara and Kaduna. There are also functional CNG centres owned by Rolling Energy in Abuja, which northern motorists especially commercial drivers benefit a lot from.
“So far, Rolling Energy has one mega CNG station in Kwara state along Post Office Road and three stations at Kakau along Kaduna-Abuja, expressway, and NDC in Kaduna state.
“Three Rolling Energy owned CNG stations will take up in each of Kano and Borno states in two-week time. The projects have reached 90 percent completion. The company will soon expand its operations to other northern states like Katsina, Bauchi, Jigawa, among others.”
Kwankwaso added that some of the centres have the capacity of converting fifty vehicles a day and are being managed by reputed engineers and technicians.
He also urged BACCIMA to always make proper findings before jumping to the conclusion, urging northerns to take advantage of the existing centres especially as the presidential initiative targets one million vehicles for free conversions.
