The conference which was convened by an NGO, the King David Generation Foundation, at the ECWA headquarters Conference Hall in Jos and attended by over 100 Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran Bishops; top officials of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as well as members of the National Assembly, ministers, and members of State Houses of Assembly, said in a communiqué that Christians could make desired difference in politics and governance of the country by playing more active roles.
The communiqué stated, “Participants at the Conference agreed to call on all Christians to actively participate in the national political process, including voter’s registration, voting during elections, joining as members of political parties, participating actively in the affairs of political parties, including holding leadership positions, forming campaign organizations and actively contest as candidates or support candidates of their choice across all political parties in a democratic manner.”  
The communiqué added that the northern Church and political leaders’ conference resolved that all participating Church and Christian leaders should unite with political leaders to truly transform politics in Nigeria.
It called on the Church to deploy its institutions, agencies, organizations, and networks to vigorously pursue issues of human rights, justice, development and peace in the country in general and in the northern states in particular.
