Spokesman of the community, Alhaji Bello Gada, while addressing newsmen in Owerri yesterday, denied having any knowledge of the association endorsing Jonathan for the forthcoming elections, saying they were not part of the endorsement.
He said: “Arewa Solidarity Initiative is not in any way residing in the South but rather in the North,” adding that the group led by the former governor of Sokoto State Attahiru Bafarawa did not in any way represent the Northern community in Imo State or South East and that they were there for their selfish political gains.
He said although ASI was aware of the existence of Northern community in Imo and other southern states, the organisation went to the streets and hired foreigners for the rally, saying “no Northerner residing in Imo State was part of the endorsement arrangement.”
They called on President Jonathan to beware of those people who claimed to have endorsed him, noting that they were only out to get money from him and reaffirmed their support to Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Bello was accompanied by Vice Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Imo State, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar; chairman of Hausa community in Imo, Abdullahi Dikko and Alhaji Hamza Abdullahi, Marafan Imo.
