A philanthropist Yunusa Yusuf Hamza has received an award from the Northern Nigeria Female Students (NOFES) for what the group described as “his immense contributions to the development of youths”.
The Chairperson of the group, Comrade Khadija N. Musa who presented the award to the philanthropist said Hamza had made positive efforts in the areas of education, employment and skills acquisition especially to empower the girl-child.
In his remarks, Umar Yakasai of Yakasai Zumunta Association, described the awardee as a young philanthropist worthy of emulation because of his willingness to assist the less privileged, particularly students who could not afford tuition fees.
“A recent example is a toilet which he reconstructed for a school whose female students resort to residential houses in the neighborhood whenever they are pressed,” Yakasai said.
On his part, the Secretary, Board of Trustees Yakasai Students’ Association (YAKSA), Usman Bala described the award as “well deserved”.
He said the celebrant had positively transformed the lives of the poor including assisting a former street thug to return to school which made him to imbibe good characters.
