Governors of the 19 Northern States have extended their heartfelt condolences to former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, over the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.
Hajiya Hadiza died on Sunday and was buried in accordance with Islamic rites following funeral prayers held at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The condolence message was conveyed by the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, the NSGF Chairman described the death as a painful and profound loss, not only to the immediate family but also to all who came in contact with the deceased.

He said the late Hajiya Hadiza lived a life marked by humility, grace, and strong devotion to family values, noting that her passing has created a significant vacuum in the lives of her loved ones.
Governor Yahaya urged the bereaved family to take solace in the exemplary life she lived and the enduring legacy of kindness, faith, and compassion she left behind.
He extended his deepest sympathies to Professor Jega, his children, and the entire extended family, praying to Almighty Allah to grant them the strength and patience to bear the irreparable loss.
The governor also prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, asking Allah to forgive her shortcomings, accept her good deeds as acts of ibadah, and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.
