Northern lawyers demand inquiry into Tudun Biri bombardment

The Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum has demanded the constitution of an independent commission of inquiry to look into the military bombing in Tudun Biri community in Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.

The lawyers, in a letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), said the panel should include representatives from various sectors, including legal experts, security experts, human rights activists, relevant government bodies and community leaders, to ensure fairness and objectivity in the investigative process.

Spokesperson of the forum, A U Hajji, said, “It is essential for the army to cooperate fully with this independent panel and provide all necessary information to ascertain the truth and hold those responsible accountable.

“Our prayers are that adequate compensation should be paid to the families of victims, serving as an acknowledgment of their losses, offering some measure of relief, and ensuring justice is served.”
