Worried by the spate of insecurity ravaging the country, especially with the recent attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train, the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP), heads of security agencies and other stakeholders held a town hall meeting in Kaduna over the weekend as part of moves to chart a way forward.

 This is just as the leadership of the Unified Nigerian Youth Forum has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency on security to allow the security agencies to nip in the bud the menace.

The town hall meeting with the theme: ‘Youth Development and National Security’ organised by the Nigerian Youth Parliament in collaboration with the Kaduna State government, stressed the need to gainfully engage the youths that constitute over 60 per cent of the society so as to stave off kidnapping, banditry, terrorism, insurgency  and other related crimes.

Speaking at the event, the Zonal Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna, Pius Gamde attributed the activities of kidnappers and terrorists to the influence of illicit drugs.

Also, the President of the Unified Nigerian Youth Forum, Abdulsalam Mohammed Kazeem in a statement noted the series of attacks had further exposed the inability of the current administration to keep to her campaign promises.
