The Northern Nigeria Youth Organisation (NNYO) has expressed concern over the rising insecurity in the land.

The group is therefore planning a national unity conference for Nigerian youths to spread the message of oneness.

NNYO Chairman, Lagos State chapter, Comrade Sani Salisu Danmuttaqa, at a briefing, said the confab would be the first assemblage of Northern youths to explore avenues to tackle the security challenge head on.

He said at the conference, slated to be held in Lagos, “The gospel of unity in diversity, peaceful coexistence, security, stability, environmental safety and youths empowerment will be propagated.”

Danmuttaqa reiterated that as a non-partisan, non-religious and non-profit forum, the group is duty bound to contribute its quota to dousing national tension.

“Our aim is to unite Northern Nigerian youths and Nigerians in general, through sensitizing, advocating, protecting and defending our people, communities and the entire states and country,” he said.

The chairman said being agents of unity, it is the group’s duty to orient the youths to accept oneness as the only tool for communal development, youths empowerment and peaceful coexistence.

“As we all know, the secret of strength is unity, peace and love. Our undaunted strength remains peace and unity. To heal wounds and create harmony, we have to let go of our grievances and embrace unity,” he said.

Danmuttaqa also said the objective was to ensure that youths embraced one another in an accord of unity.
